Yokosuka is presently our largest overseas base. For many years the USS Midway CV-41 called this base home. The next ship in the rotation was the USS Independence CV-62 which I believe was followed by the USS Kitty Hawk CV-63. The latest carrier to assume the forward deployed role is the USS George Washington.
